Black Bean Brownies
These brownies are soft and gooey. Not one single person who didn’t know beforehand has ever guessed they were bean based! The secret is to serve them first, and then reveal the secret ingredient.

Ingredients:

3 cups Organic Black Turtle Beans, cooked, drained and rinsed well
6 Tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup Organic Rolled Oats
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup pure maple syrup, honey, or agave
1/2 cup coconut or olive oil
4 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 tsp baking powder
2/3 cup chocolate chips, optional

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 F.
Combine all ingredients except chips in a good food processor and blend until completely smooth. Really blend well. A blender will unfortunately not achieve the desired texture or taste. Stir in the chips, then pour into a greased 8×8 pan.
Cook the black bean brownies 20-25 minutes (varies based on oven), then let cool at least 10 minutes before trying to cut. If they still look a bit undercooked, you can place them in the fridge overnight and they will magically firm up!

Total Time: 15 minutes
Yield: 9-12 brownies

Preparation Tips: Use 2x 15-oz can of black beans, or cook 1-1/2 cup of dry beans. I usually soak and cook 4 cups of dry beans, and can the two extra portions for faster baking later.
