Foods to Heal Your Thyroid
We have been told for decades that food has nothing to do with health or healing. Nothing could be further from the truth. The quality of the food we eat does matter. Scientific research knows almost nothing about the healing power of food because funding does not get devoted to this research. There is no money to be made in food.
Whereas the medical community operates on a seak and destroy attitude towards offending organs, the functional approach is to find and address the root cause of symptoms. It has long been known in the functional health community that the Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is responsible for conditions and symptoms affecting the thyroid, such as Hashimoto’s, Grave’s disease, and almost all other known thyroid diseases.
Understanding the root cause of thyroid problems enables us to begin to include the foods that fight the offending viruses and support the thyroid. Knowing the cause changes everything when it comes to healing.
Brassica/Cruciferous Vegetables
This group includes kale, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, broccoli raab, arugula, and cabbage. Some people suggest that cruciferous vegetables, also known as brassicas, are harmful for anyone with a thyroid problem because of their goitrogenic compounds.
In reality, they contain phytochemical compounds that help to heal your thyroid by literally pushing the virus out of the thyroid and destroying it.
Artichokes protect your thyroid from invaders such as EBV. There are subgroups of phytochemicals that shrink nodules, tumors, and cysts which are compounds that work for your thyroid.
Bananas
"Bananas help restore neurotransmitters and support healing from neurological problems, which are among the symptoms related to thyroid problems. Neurotoxins from viruses like EBV can creep into your body and cause symptoms like brain fog, memory loss, fatigue, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, tremors, tingles and numbness, headaches, tinnitus, anxiety, depression, and many more. This fruit is an anti-inflammatory, anti-EBV food that can greatly help you in healing from and preventing thyroid conditions and symptoms. Bananas are also good for hypoglycemia because they balance blood sugar and protect adrenals. Additionally, they knock out streptococcus, which unknown to medical science and research is the bacteria responsible for SIBO, from the intestinal tract. Streptococcus is a cofactor for Epstein-Barr Virus." -- Anthony William
Cucumbers
Cucumbers help to hydrate the lymphatic system, strengthen the adrenals and the kidneys while flushing toxins created by viruses from the bloodstream. Cucumbers will also help to support your lymphatic system in lieu of a lack of exercise.
Garlic
Garlic has anti-viral super powers which can help eliminate EBV and streptoccocus from your system, which may be connected to UTIs, sinus infections, SIBO, acne, and many other symptoms.
Celery subgroups of mineral salts that attack the virus that causes Hashimoto’s. It strengthens hydrochloric acid in the intestinal tract, helps the liver produce bile to break down food, and stabilizes the adrenals. Celery also contains powerful electrolytes for the nervous system and boosts T3, a hormone in the thyroid.
Asparagus supports the thyroid. Has an alkaloid that acts as a gentle aspirin throughout the body, calming down the body and lowering inflammation
Radishes are an antiviral food due to their high and unique sulfur content.
